Frequently Asked Questions
What is Contactless Payments on LRT-2?
How do I use my BPI Credit or Debit Card at the LRT-2 stations?
Simply tap your BPI Credit or Debit Card at point of boarding at terminals with enabled EMV® contactless access which may display the Contactless Symbol or acceptance logos. No need to get in line to get a ticket, pre-register to pay for journeys, download an app, or obtain a transit card or ticket in advance of travel.
Do I need to enroll my card with the transit agency before riding?
No. Simply Tap to Ride at the transit terminal.
What happens if my card has been declined?
Check if your card has sufficient balance and in active and good status. If denied at the barrier, kindly proceed to the ticketing window to re-attempt the transaction, along with any previously owed funds from previous travels. The cardholder can also initiate payment by calling the transit agency call center or visiting the website to pay.
Kindly refrain from tapping the terminal with multiple cards or payment-enabled devices in the field, as there may be a chance that the terminal will detect a different card for payment. Choose your BPI Card and separate it from other forms of contactless payment before presenting it to the terminal for payment.
How will the transaction appear on my billing card statement?
The fare charged to your BPI Card is the aggregated sum of all the fares charged daily. The fares are calculated based on the entry and exit points and are combined and charged once at the end of the day.
Please note that for previously declined transactions, it may appear on the statement up to 2 weeks after the initial ride, as this is the transit agency’s way to reconciliate or authorize transactions. These transactions shall appear differently to the usual trip transactions on the billing card statement.
How to Avail
1. Look for designated turnstiles that accept contactless payment. Tap to pay with your BPI Credit or Debit Card.
2. Tap using the same card at the turnstile upon exiting your destination. The correct fare will be calculated based on the distance travelled.
3. Any other trips taken that day will be aggregated and the total amount will be displayed on your bank statement or statement of account.
