The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) proudly celebrates Alex Eala’s historic performance at Wimbledon, where she became the first Filipino to reach the Round of 16 of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament.
Alex Eala shares her journey and insights during a special event hosted by BPI to recognize her success on the global tennis stage.
Across the country, BPI employees united in support of the young Filipina tennis star, closely following her matches and cheering her on as she carried the Philippine flag onto one of the biggest stages in world sports.
“On behalf of everyone at BPI, congratulations on your amazing and historic run at Wimbledon—becoming the first Filipino to reach the Round of 16,” said BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco.
Fresh from her historic run to the fourth round of Wimbledon 2026, Alex Eala also climbed to a career-high No. 28 in the WTA singles rankings, further cementing her place in Philippine sports history as the highest-ranked Filipino ever on the WTA Tour.
Limcaoco noted that beyond her athletic accomplishments, Eala has become a powerful symbol of perseverance and character.
“What makes us proudest is not just how far you’ve come, but how you handle every match—with grit, grace, and guts. You have been not only an inspiration but proof that while not every fight is won, true victory lies in never giving up.”
When asked by the press during a media event about how she will manage her recent prize money, Eala said she is happy to get financial guidance from BPI.
"I am so lucky and blessed to be under the guidance of my parents, under the guidance of my family at BPI,” said Alex Eala.
BPI welcomed Alex Eala for an inspiring homecoming event celebrating excellence, resilience, and the pursuit of limitless possibilities.
