Press Release
May 08, 2026

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), in partnership with Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. (RRHI), officially launched its cash deposit service using a BPI app barcode at Sun and Fun Fair held in Boracay from April 19 to 21, 2026. The initiative marks a significant step in advancing financial accessibility and convenience for Filipinos, with the service to be rolled out across more than 1,000 RRHI stores nationwide by the end of the year.

(L-R): Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc.’s (RRHI) Josemaria Catanghal, Chief Information Officer; and Rosalyn Bilog, Front End Systems Head; with BPI’s Vicvic Montenegro, Agency Banking Platforms Business and Shared Services Head; and Rally Jereza, Agency Banking Head; with RRHI’s Kerwin Legarde, Group General Manager; and Christine Tueres, Managing Director.

The milestone launch signals a major step forward in BPI’s ongoing efforts to expand its partner store capabilities, further transforming everyday retail environments into fully enabled “branch hubs.” While deposit via tablet was enabled as early as 2024 in select regional partner stores, the partnership with RRHI expands the service nationwide, with an enhanced seamless digital customer experience via the BPI app.

Through the barcode-enabled feature on the BPI mobile app, customers can now initiate deposit transactions to a BPI account seamlessly, which are then fulfilled at participating partner stores. This completes a critical piece of the Agency Banking model: enabling both cash-in (deposit) and cash-out (withdrawal) transactions within retail environments, without the need to visit a traditional branch.

“This milestone reinforces our commitment to making banking more accessible and relevant to every Filipino,” said Rally Jereza, Head of BPI Agency Banking. “By enabling partners to facilitate barcode-enabled based deposits and withdrawals, as well as account openings and product applications just by scanning a QR code, we are bringing full-service banking to any community in the Philippines—even the most remote islands. We are effectively making banking invisible by integrating it into the local stores our customers already visit.”

To generate a deposit barcode:

1. Log in to the BPI app.

2. Tap “More”, then “Partner store transactions”

3. Tap “Deposit” and select the account where you want to deposit:

a. To own account

b. Another BPI account

4. Input the deposit amount.

5. A barcode will be generated, which you can download or access directly from the BPI app.

To complete your transaction:

1. Visit a participating BPI Partner Store within an hour from barcode generation.

2. Inform the cashier that you wish to deposit cash to a BPI account and present the generated barcode.

3. Once processed, you will receive a transaction receipt.

Transaction details:

  • Deposits can be made without a debit card.
  • Clients may deposit up to ₱15,000 per transaction, and up to five times per day. Limit varies per brand.
  • All partner-store transactions are free of charge.

With barcode-enabled deposits and withdrawals, RRHI stores now offer customers convenient access to essential banking services. This “branch hub” model is expected to expand further, with the barcode deposit feature set to be rolled out across more partner brands nationwide in the coming months.

“At RRHI, we are continuously evolving our stores to better serve the everyday needs of our customers,” said Christine Tueres, Managing Director of RRHI. “Our partnership with BPI allows us to go beyond retail by offering convenient, accessible financial services within our stores, making essential transactions like deposits and withdrawals part of our customers’ regular shopping routines.”

As consumer behavior continues to shift toward digital-first solutions, BPI’s latest innovation reflects a clear direction: banking that is embedded, intuitive, and seamlessly integrated into daily routines.
