The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has partnered with leading hardware and home improvement store chain Handyman to strengthen support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as they grow and scale their businesses.
(L-R): BPI’s Business Banking External Channel Management Head Joseph Orillo, Business Banking Distribution Regional Head for NCR Ma. Eloisa Aquino, Business Banking Channel Management Head Mary Jhoanna Ramos, Handyman Group General Manager Theodore Sogono, Finance Director Shan Riel, and Commercial Business Manager Jon Lester Lusanta
At the heart of the partnership is BPI Business Banking’s Ka-Negosyo Credit Line (KCL)—a revolving credit facility that enables SMEs to manage recurring business expenses, such as those for raw materials. KCL, which functions like an extended wallet, enables SMEs to respond flexibly to large or unexpected orders, even during periods of tight cash flow. Businesses will be charged with interest only on the amount they use, with repayment terms aligned to their cash flow—making the facility an efficient and practical financing solution for recurring and bulk purchases.
Eligible Handyman SME customers can specifically use KCL to easily purchase inventory and supplies in bulk, without disrupting their cash flow, improving payment and inventory management. They can also expect exclusive promotions, tailored offers, and other initiatives from BPI.
The partnership is expected to benefit over 500 Handyman SME customers nationwide, particularly those in construction, home improvement, retail, and related industries. Participating customers can access the program across Handyman’s 183 stores nationwide, making financing solutions more accessible to entrepreneurs wherever they do business.
The collaboration builds on BPI Business Banking’s strong momentum in supporting Filipino SMEs. In 2025, the Bank achieved strong growth in its SME loan portfolio, posting an 80% increase in SME loans outstanding and over 13% customer growth from the previous year. This was driven by data-centric strategies that optimized lending programs and enabled BPI to better respond to the evolving needs of SMEs. Through partnerships such as Handyman, the Bank continues to expand access to relevant financial solutions that help businesses thrive and scale.
“Through this partnership with Handyman, we are reaffirming BPI’s commitment to be the trusted Ka-Negosyo of Filipino entrepreneurs,” said Dominique Ocliasa, Head of Business Banking at BPI. “Our goal is to make access to working capital and business funding more madali, magaan, at mabilis, enabling SMEs to confidently seize opportunities and focus on growing their businesses.”
This collaboration also highlights BPI Business Banking’s broader mission to reinvent banking by putting client experience at the center—anchored on digitalization, sustainability, and meaningful partnerships. By working closely with Handyman, BPI aims to provide real, relevant value to SMEs across industries.
With resilience, agility, and foresight, BPI continues to build on its heritage of banking excellence and innovation, advancing a more inclusive financial ecosystem and contributing to a better Philippines—one SME at a time.
