The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has been recognized as the country’s Best Bank for SMEs at the prestigious FinanceAsia Awards 2026, affirming its commitment to helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access financing, manage their businesses, and pursue growth.
BPI Business Banking Head Dominique Ocliasa holds the FinanceAsia Awards 2026 trophy after BPI was named Best Bank for SMEs in the Philippines, recognizing the Bank’s commitment to supporting Filipino entrepreneurs through innovative and accessible banking solutions.
The recognition highlights BPI’s continued efforts to be a trusted banking partner for Filipino entrepreneurs through tailored financial solutions, digital innovations, and initiatives that respond to the evolving needs of businesses.
In 2025, BPI, particularly its Business Banking segment, achieved remarkable growth in its SME loan portfolio, posting an 80% year-on-year increase in outstanding loans to PHP 64 billion, while its customer base also grew by more than 13%, serving over 110,000 SME clients nationwide. During the year, BPI Business Banking also disbursed PHP 4.74 billion in loans, supporting the financing requirements of more than 1,500 SME clients across the country.
BPI Business Banking expanded access to SME financing through alternative-data-driven lending programs that simplify requirements and provide more relevant financial solutions to entrepreneurs.
Among the platforms and programs that drove growth was Ka-Negosyo On The Go, a fully digital loan application platform that allows SMEs to apply for business financing anytime, anywhere.
BPI also continues to support SMEs beyond financing through capacity-building engagements with business communities and digital learning initiatives that make business and financial concepts more accessible, helping entrepreneurs make informed decisions and pursue growth with confidence.
Building on these efforts, BPI Business Banking is expanding the SME banking experience in 2026 through innovations that make everyday banking more seamless and responsive to entrepreneurs’ needs.
These include electronic Statements of Account (e-SOA) for Ka-Negosyo Credit Line, accessible through the BPI App and BPI Online, giving business owners convenient access to their balances, transactions, and account activity.
BPI is also introducing the KCL Access Card, an additional channel that allows customers to draw from their approved credit line. Together with the BPI App, BPI BizLink, and checkbook, it gives entrepreneurs more convenient ways to access working capital when business needs and opportunities arise.
The Bank is likewise launching Ka-Negosyo Essentials, an integrated banking bundle that brings together deposits, payments, collections, cash management, and financing in one solution designed for SMEs. By bringing these essential services together, the offering aims to simplify financial management and improve cash flow visibility for entrepreneurs.
Together, these initiatives mark the next phase of BPI Business Banking’s strategy to build a more integrated SME banking experience, helping entrepreneurs manage their day-to-day financial needs and pursue growth more efficiently.
“SMEs serve as the backbone of our economy. It is important for us at BPI to give them a head start through financing solutions that are madali, magaan, and mabilis to help them reach their business goals,” said Dominique Ocliasa, Business Banking Head at BPI.
“Each enterprise has its own specific needs that need to be addressed as quickly as possible, so we developed data-driven and digital solutions to make the delivery of our services faster, more focused, and more relevant,” he added.
BPI offers financing for SMEs through the Ka-Negosyo loans, namely:
- Ka-Negosyo Credit Line – Allows SMEs to conveniently draw funds from a credit line via BPI BizLink, the BPI App, KCL Access Card, or checkbook to directly pay suppliers and business partners anytime. It is the only credit line for SMEs among traditional commercial banks that offers a non-collateral option and multiple channels of availment.
- Ka-Negosyo SME Loan – Supports business owners in expanding product lines, purchasing new equipment, or meeting other capital expenditures. It makes the expense affordable and light on the pocket through monthly loan payments over a long period of time.
- Ka-Negosyo Ready Loan (KRL) – Available for SMEs with seasonal funding requirements, such as stocking up on supplies and inventory for peak business seasons (ex. Christmas). It gives business owners the flexibility to focus on growing the business by seizing sales opportunities, rather than constantly managing flows, especially during off or slow seasons. KRL is an innovation in providing short-term loans through a standardized program, enabling one of the fastest processing times in the industry.
The Bank also offers SMEs solutions to manage their cash flow, such as BPI BizLink, BPI BizKo, ePayroll, and Foreign Exchange.
With this latest recognition from FinanceAsia, BPI reinforces its commitment to doing more for SMEs, which provide employment for Filipinos and contribute to the growth of communities and the broader economy.
“We believe that when SMEs thrive, communities grow with them. And for this, we are grateful to FinanceAsia for affirming BPI’s role in driving the country’s economic development,” Ocliasa said.
