The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has officially reopened its newly transformed Buendia Center branch, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s commitment to delivering modern, customer-centric, and sustainable banking experiences.
BPI leaders (L–R) Tina Sy, Division Head for Southern Metro Manila; Ginbee Go, Consumer Banking Head; Jenny Lacerna, Mass Retail Head; Eric Luchangco, Chief Finance Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer; and Gina Eala, Chief Human Resources Officer, lead the ribbon-cutting for the Bank’s newest branch.
Located in what was previously known as the Far East Bank Building in Makati City, the branch has been redesigned as BPI’s first open-layout branch, integrating digital convenience with personalized in-branch service while seamlessly incorporating non-banking spaces such as a café and an HR recruitment area within the building lobby.
“We want everyone who steps through our doors, whether they are long-time clients, friends, or guests, to feel valued. We want them to experience that genuine hospitality and the NICE values that we carry as Unibankers,” said Maria Cristina “Ginbee” Go, BPI Consumer Banking Head.
“Looking around, you will see our vision brought to life. This is our first open branch layout, designed specifically to remove barriers,” she added.
BPI’s newly renovated branch provides a bright, spacious setting for convenient and personalized banking.
A phygital branch combines the convenience of digital banking with the personalized service of physical branches to create a more seamless and enhanced customer experience. With this, clients can benefit from:
- Personalized advisory sessions in private meeting pods
- Concierge and Quick-Transact assistance for smoother digital transactions
- A hybrid banking experience for both digital-first clients and those who prefer in-person guidance
Key features of the branch include:
- A fluid Open Branch layout that enhances visibility and collaboration
- A café kiosk at the lobby that enriches the experience of clients, visitors, and applicants
- An outdoor business garden that provides a refreshing setting for small private meetings
- Five ATMs positioned at both entrances for convenient access
The new layout brings together several key destinations, including an HR Recruitment area where applicants can be interviewed and guided in a professional and welcoming setting.
The BPI Buendia Center branch offers modern, comfortable spaces designed for clients.
The branch also incorporates multiple sustainability features aimed at reducing environmental impact. These include maximizing natural daylight, using energy-efficient lighting, integrating low-volatile organic compounds (VOC) materials, and selecting durable certified products. These improvements support BPI’s long-term sustainability initiatives and contribute to a healthier indoor environment.
Supporting this commitment to sustainability, the branch is housed in the BPI Buendia Center corporate building, a facility powered by renewable energy through the Green Option Program (GEOP)—a government initiative that enables end-users with a monthly average peak demand of at least 100 kW to source electricity exclusively from renewable sources. It is one of several BPI buildings running on clean energy, including the BPI Consumer Center, BPI Operations Center, and Binondo Corporate Office.
The corporate building, which serves as a workplace for hundreds of employees, also features a dedicated dance studio that supports BPI’s internal engagement programs and reinforces its role as an employer of choice, promoting wellness, creativity, and employee development.
