The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has earned two prestigious recognitions at the 22nd Philippine Quill Awards for its cybersecurity initiatives, underscoring the Bank's commitment to strengthening trust in digital banking, combating financial cybercrime, and building a safer digital ecosystem for Filipinos.

(L-R) BPI Government Relations Officers Ma. Jestine Mendoza-Ong and Vega Fria Postrano-Devoma received the Quill Award of Merit for the BPI CyberProtect Conference Series and the Quill Award of Excellence for BPI CyberAcademy.

BPI CyberAcademy received an Award of Excellence, while the BPI CyberProtect Conference Series received an Award of Merit. Together, the programs showcase the Bank’s efforts to empower more Filipinos with cybersecurity knowledge, strengthen protection against cyber risks, and encourage greater cooperation between organizations and institutions.

“We are grateful for these awards which recognize BPI’s efforts to foster cyber resilience and protect consumers against online scams,” said Elena Torrijos, BPI’s Head of Public Affairs and Communications. “As online threats continue to evolve, the Bank remains committed to advancing cybersecurity awareness, supporting public-private partnerships, and empowering Filipinos with the knowledge needed to navigate the digital economy securely.”

As one of the Bank’s flagship public-private partnership programs, BPI CyberAcademy was created to address growing financial cybercrime and online fraud by equipping government personnel and law enforcers with practical cybersecurity knowledge and digital safety skills. Developed in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the Department of Justice-Office of Cybercrime, and the Philippine National Police, the program supports the country's wider digital transformation and cybersecurity agenda.

Since its launch in 2023, BPI CyberAcademy has trained more than 600 prosecutors and law enforcement personnel using structured learning modules, real-world financial cybercrime case discussions, and practical investigation and response techniques. The program has consistently earned participant satisfaction ratings, with Metro Manila participants saying they would recommend the program.

Complementing these efforts is the BPI CyberProtect Conference Series. This annual multi-sectoral platform brings together regulators, legislators, law enforcement agencies, industry leaders, academics, and cybersecurity experts to address emerging cyber threats and digital fraud. Established to foster collaboration and collective action, the conference has evolved into a key platform for policy discussions, cybersecurity awareness, and consumer protection advocacy.

Since launching also in 2023, the BPI CyberProtect Conference Series has strengthened the Bank’s role as a trusted advocate for cybersecurity while contributing to national efforts to improve resilience against cyber threats.
