Helping foster the next generation of business and finance professionals, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) continued to lend support to the Money Market Association of the Philippines (MART) and CFA Society of the Philippines (CFAP) on its second MART x CFAP Cup: Inter-Collegiate Bonds Trading Competition, which recently held its awarding ceremony at the historic Ayuntamiento de Manila of the Bureau of Treasury.

The annual competition exposed junior and senior college students to the nuances of Philippine fixed income markets, and gave them the opportunity to trade government securities using the Bloomberg platform and be mentored by seasoned fixed income dealers from MART-member banks.

The trading tournament ran from March to May this year, during which each team was tasked to manage a virtual seed fund of P1 billion to invest in government securities. After nine weeks of adrenaline-charged trading competition, the winners of the 2023 MART x CFAP Cup are:

Seasoned and multi-awarded Fixed Income Dealer from BPI’s Global Markets Trading Desk Jennifer Gayle P. Singian played a key role in this year’s MART x CFAP Cup as one of the mentors. With her guidance, she imparted key insights and trading strategies to the overall champion Jack-Of-All-Traders from Ateneo de Manila University, which was crucial to their win.
