Between packed tournament schedules, long flights, and life on the road, Alex Eala has learned to find comfort in the little things that keep her connected to home. In this exclusive conversation with BPI, she opens up about the realities of constantly traveling for competition, the routines that help her stay grounded, and the moments she looks forward to off court.

From Filipino comfort food cravings to favorite cities and downtime habits, get a more personal glimpse into Alex’s life beyond tennis.

You’ve been constantly traveling to different countries for tennis competitions. What does your usual travel routine look like as you move from one tournament city to the next?

Alex: Traveling for tournaments has taught me to be independent and adaptable. The hardest part is being away from family for long periods.

When you have free time away from training and matches, how do you usually like to unwind?

Alex: I like relaxing, watching shows, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Are there activities that help you relax or reset while traveling?

Alex: Yes, I enjoy movies, TV series, reading, and trying new restaurants during downtime.

With a busy schedule, how do you usually stay socially connected while on tour?

Alex: I stay connected through messages and video calls whenever I can.

What Filipino comfort food do you usually look for when you’re traveling?

Alex: I miss Filipino food, especially adobo and desserts.

Is there a city or place you’ve visited that left a lasting impression on you—and what made it stand out?

Alex: I love cities with good food and nice energy like Melbourne and Madrid.

What’s the most “Filipino” thing you always carry with you, no matter where you are?

Alex: I try to keep little routines from home, like calling family and listening to music.
