Bank of the Philippine Islands (Europe) Plc (“BPI Europe”) takes the privacy of the information it holds about you seriously. Maintaining this privacy is an important part of the products and services that we provide. We ask that you carefully read this Data Privacy Statement as this explains how we collect, access, use, share, protect, retain, and dispose personal information we have about you when you apply for and avail of our products and services.

This Statement outlines our bank’s data privacy practices for customers who apply for and obtain products and services from us such as, but not limited to, deposits, loans, international payments, and other such products and services that our bank may offer from time to time.

This Statement will apply to you if you are or have been a customer of BPI Europe. If your personal information has been provided to us, but you are not a customer, it may also apply to you, such as in instances where you unsuccessfully applied for an account or raised a complaint with us.

Changes to our data privacy statement

We may modify or amend this Data Privacy Statement from time to time to keep up with changes in relevant laws and regulations applicable to us or how we collect, access, use, share, protect, retain, and dispose your personal information. Relevant updates will be posted on our bank’s official website.

 

Definitions

1. Personal information or data refers to any information, whether recorded in a material form or not, from which the identity of a living individual is apparent or can be reasonably and directly ascertained by the entity holding the information, or when put together with other information would directly and certainly identify an individual.

2. Sensitive personal information or data refers to personal information –

a. About an individual’s race, ethnic origin, marital status, age, color, religious and philosophical beliefs, and political affiliations;

b. About an individual’s health, education, genetics, sex life or sexual orientation, biometrics (where used for identification), or to any proceeding for any offense committed or alleged to have been committed by such person, the disposal of such proceedings, or the sentence of any court in such proceedings;

c. Issued by government agencies peculiar to an individual, which includes but is not limited to social security numbers, previous or current health records, licenses, or its denials, suspension or revocation, and tax returns; and

d. Specifically established by an executive order or an act of Congress to be kept classified.

3. BPI subsidiaries and affiliates refers to members of the BPI Group of Companies.
