Notice to the Public: Beware of Fraudulent Loan Offers
What is happening
Fraudulent advertisements are circulating via text message and social media, where fraudsters impersonate BPI Europe (or use confusingly similar names) and offer fake loans with unrealistically low interest rates. Victims receive SMS links or online ads inviting them to “claim” these offers. Clicking the link directs them to a fraudulent website that request personal and banking details, allowing scammers to steal sensitive information, potentially gain unauthorized access to bank accounts, and ultimately result in identity theft or unauthorised transactions.
What you should know
BPI Europe does not promote, advertise, or offer any of its products through text messages, social media posts, or direct messages. The Bank does not operate or maintain any official social media accounts. Information about our legitimate products and services is published exclusively on our official website at https://www.bpi.com.ph/europe.
BPI Europe will never send unsolicited product offers, message containing links, or requests for personal or banking details via text or social media.
Spot the signs of a Loan Scam
Stay vigilant. We remind the public to be cautious of the following:
● Unsolicited messages claiming to be from BPI Europe, especially those that contain links or ask for personal details.
● “Guaranteed” loans with unusually low interest rates or that require an upfront fee.
● Lack of transparency about the lender’s identity, registration, or terms.
● Messages that create a false sense of urgency, e.g., “Apply now” to avoid missing the offer.
● Loan offers that seem too good to be true – because they usually are.
How to Stay Safe
● Do not click on links or open attachments in unsolicited or suspicious messages.
● Never pay upfront fees. Legitimate lenders will only deduct costs after the loan is approved and disbursed.
● Do not share personal or banking details with unverified individuals or websites.
● Report any suspicious messages or activities immediately to BPI Europe via our official channels.
● If in doubt, verify through our official website before taking any action or reach out to us via our official channels.
