Effective March 27, 2021, BPI Credit Cardholders will be automatically registered to the Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater. 

Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater (ABU) is a new service by Mastercard that helps you avoid online transaction declines due to changes in your card number or card expiry, with your card-on-file merchants.

Card-on-file transactions are payments processed using a card number you have saved with a merchant or website where you have created an account and saved your card information.

It enables automatic updating of your enrolled card details to partner merchants of Mastercard in cases of card renewals or replacements. It will provide convenience because you won’t need to enter your new card details such as Card Number and Expiry dates because Mastercard will do it for you, to avoid payment interruptions or transaction declines. Card upgrades are not yet included in the automatic updating of card details.

Mastercard ABU is only available to participating merchants. For merchants that do not support ABU, you will have to manually update your enrollment with them whenever there are changes in your card number or card expiry.

Merchants sign up directly with Mastercard and the list of participating merchants is subject to updates. Here are some merchants that support ABU as of June 2020:

Netflix, Grab, Foodpanda, iTunes, Google Playstore, Steam Games, Agoda, Klook, Paypal

Please confirm with your merchant directly to ensure that they support Mastercard ABU.

No, the Mastercard ABU service is only available to BPI Credit Mastercard cardholders.

Your card details such as your card number or card expiry will change if you are issued a new card due to renewal, or card replacement when the old card is lost or stolen. Card upgrades are not yet included in the automatic updating of card details.

As long as you are enrolled in the ABU Service, and your BPI Credit Mastercard is enrolled in ABU-participating merchants, Mastercard will continuously update the card details in your merchant enrollment.

BPI, through Mastercard ABU, will provide the merchant with your new card details if you are issued a new card due to renewal, or if your card was replaced when the old card was lost or stolen.
